Jesus irritated the leaders of the temples and synagogues by healing on the Sabbath. Sunday we reflect on the healing of the crippled man, hoping to get into the pool at Bethesda. We read the story, but it is far away from us and our modern medical practices. Although the healing is spectacular, Jesus is trying to give insights into the faith. Because we are so removed in time and the tradition of Jesus’ day, we miss what HE is teaching about faith. Can we apply this lesson, which is very freeing? In our second message we begin to examine Jesus’ teaching about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit leads and shapes our faith. We have to be able to understand the way it is moving us, if we hope to bring this dynamic power to our faith.
