We continue with the Sermon on the Mount. The teachings of turning the other cheek, going the extra mile, loving your enemy are some of the riskiest of all of Jesus’ thoughts. Only a few are willing to put themselves at risk. However, on a deeper level Jesus is creating great freedom for his followers. These teachings push us to respond differently to many of the situations in which confrontation, anger, loss, and difficulty emerge. They are not easy, but hidden within the passages are clues to bring these truths out. Can these teachings be lived in today’s world?
