Unity. Such a simple word. So hard to achieve.
The “United States of America” was more of an aspirational goal than a reality in the early days of this country. Even this week, there was a proposal to divide California into three separate states. A few years back, there was a proposal to create a separate state in Northern Colorado.
Shortly after the resurrection, the church experienced great unity of purpose and community. This dream quickly became a nightmare. Paul constantly encouraged and sometimes chastised those who were creating disharmony in the church.
In the coming weeks and months, the unity of First Baptist Church will be challenged. How do you as a church draw together to maintain a sense of unity of purpose and community?
