In the book of John, we read the story of Jesus as told through new eyes. Jesus gives the disciples, and gives us, a new commandment to follow, a new commandment to help guide us, and a new reason to stand with one another. In John 13:34-35 Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” As we step into this new phase of church life, it is important to remember those words that Jesus spoke to the disciples. As you reflect this week, think about what this newness can mean. Can it offer us a chance to reflect on the past and to grow? As we travel through this period of change, remember the words that Jesus gave to disciples to love one another with the love that God gives us.
