Sunday is a day of remembering as we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day. We remember not just those who have given their lives protecting our life and freedoms, but also those we have lost over the last year. The ability to remember is critical if we are going to have a future. We have all witnessed the devastation of dementia and Alzheimer’s and have seen how it robs a person not only of his or her past but also of any hope for a future. The ability to remember is not only crucial for life, but also for our faith. The Christian experience is based on our ability to remember what Jesus taught and did. Our act of communion was created by Jesus with the bread and the wine, to help us remember his life and his NEW covenant. I encourage you to take a moment and remember those who have gone on before.
