When Christ invites us into the Christian experience, he expects us to become fruitful. This idea is found in John, when HE talks about the vine and the branches producing fruit. The key to producing fruit is staying attached to the vine. The scary part of these texts is that if we are not fruitful we are pruned off. The second part of the morning worship focuses on the uncomfortable relationship disciples have with the world and why this occurs. Disciples are different from converts, in that they are acting for Christ in the world. We are at a critical moment in our times, where disciples are more needed than converts. Is the church making disciples or converts?
