What is Jesus trying to show us? Everything he does and says leaves clues to both life and faith. In Matthew 14 we hear an interesting comment by the writer, who says Jesus went off to pray and was alone. What happens when we are alone? Jesus is revealing one of the simplest and most profound ways to rest, recover, and heal. Seldom, however, are we ever alone. Many people fear being alone and do everything to avoid it. And in our world, “being connected” is a key. We examine what happened to Jesus when he was alone and what happens when we are alone. Then we turn our attention to the disciples, who are caught in the storm. Jesus asks Peter “Where is your faith?” There are some powerful implications to his question. We are encouraged to live by faith, but fear often enters in, leaving us feeling defeated and anxious.
