Throughout the gospels, we see Jesus continuously reshaping the faith, beliefs, and understandings of his disciples and followers. In our first meditation, Jesus reveals just how incompatible his message and gospel is with the faith of the Pharisees and ancient Judaism. We sometimes do not take into account the radical differences between Jesus and Judaism. Because we do not distinguish between the two, our faith becomes confusing and difficult to apply and to live. How do we embrace and take this NEW faith to heart. In the gospels, the way is through discipleship. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a process of embracing the message HE shares and leaves to us. Sunday we study the lessons of the parable of the wineskins and the implications of discipleship.
